Build the systems that move research to market.

Overview

You'll own the server-side systems behind the ORIC Management System — the platform that logs, tracks, and moves every research disclosure through our commercialization pipeline. This is a foundational, high-ownership role on a small team.

What you'll do

• Design and build REST APIs that power disclosure intake, IP tracking, and PMO workflows
• Model and maintain the databases behind the ORIC pipeline and partner-facing tools
• Own service reliability, performance, and security for systems handling institutional data
• Work closely with the frontend team to ship features end-to-end
• Set up and maintain cloud infrastructure and deployment pipelines

What we're looking for

• 2+ years building production backend systems (Node.js, Python, or similar)
• Solid grasp of relational databases and API design
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Comfortable owning a system from schema to deployment
• Bonus: experience with systems handling sensitive or regulated data

Overview

You'll build the interfaces research offices, PMO teams, and institutional partners use every day — turning complex commercialization workflows into something clear and fast to use.

What you'll do

• Build and maintain interfaces for the ORIC Management System and partner-facing tools
• Translate governance and pipeline workflows into clean, usable UI
• Collaborate with backend engineers to design and consume APIs
• Maintain a consistent design system across the TCCI platform
• Optimize for performance and accessibility across devices

What we're looking for

• 2+ years building production frontend applications (React or similar)
• Strong eye for detail in layout, spacing, and interaction design
• Comfortable working directly from wireframes or rough specs
• Experience integrating with REST APIs
• Bonus: experience building admin or dashboard-style tools

Overview

You'll support the intellectual property backbone of TCCI's commercialization pipeline — helping faculty and industry disclosures move from first submission to a defensible filing.

What you'll do

• Run prior-art searches and novelty evaluations on incoming disclosures
• Support patentability assessments and market gap analysis
• Coordinate filing workflows with external patent counsel
• Maintain accurate records within the ORIC IP tracking system
• Liaise with faculty and inventors to clarify disclosure details

What we're looking for

• Background in IP law, patent analysis, or a related technical field
• Familiarity with patentability search tools and databases
• Strong written communication for technical and legal documentation
• Comfortable working across engineering, legal, and academic stakeholders
• Bonus: prior experience with a university ORIC or tech transfer office
